10/24/2024 4:00pm 10/24/2024 5:00pm Totally Tweens: Comics & Cookies: Major Impossible Tweens are invited to a monthly book club to listen to a graphic novel read-aloud. We'll enjoy a 30-minute excerpt of a different book each month, and then do an activity based on the book. Plus, cookies will be served! For our October meeting, we'll listen to Major Impossible by Nathan Hale. John Wesley Powell always had the spirit of adventure in him. As a young man, he traveled all over the United States exploring. When the Civil War began, Powell went to fight for the Union, and even after he lost most of his right arm, he continued to fight until the war was over. In 1869, he embarked with the Colorado River Exploring Expedition-- ten men in four boats-- to float through the Grand Canyon. Ten explorers went in, but only six came out.
