Library EventTotally Tweens: Botanical Bookmarks

Recognize Black History Month by learning about an African American STEM pioneer and creating a craft that celebrates his legacy!

Learn about Charles S. Parker, a pathbreaking journalist, botanist, and Army officer, through a read-aloud of a picture book biography about his life entitled "Rooting for Plants: The Unstoppable Charles S. Parker, Black Botanist and Collector" by Janice N. Harrington.

Then, in the spirit of his scientific processes in botanical discovery, select from an array of dried plants, arrange and label them, then press into a laminated bookmark you can keep and remember Charles S. Parker whenever you use it.

This event is open to 3rd-6th graders.
