Teen Summer Reading Program Events


wolf_howling_moon The annual Teen Summer Reading Program will begin this year on Sunday, June 3 and continue through Tuesday, July 31. Participants can sign up at the Fiction Desk where they will receive a Reading Form and Book Review Form. After reading five books, participants fill out the Reading Form and Book Review Form. Return it to Fiction Desk staff in the Library to receive a paperback book prize and entry into the grand prize drawings. This year’s prizes include a NOOK Tablet and gift certificates to Prairie Lights Books, iTunes, and local movie theatres.

Teen Summer Reading Program Registration Begins
Teen Summer Reading Registration begins at the Fiction Desk. Find out about Tuesday programs featuring: survive zombie apocalypse, owls and other raptors with The Macbride Raptor Project, live music cosponsored with United Action for Youth and more. After completing your Reading Sheet and Book Review Form, you may select a paperback book prize and register for prize drawings.

Join us in preparation for the coming zombie apocalypse! We'll discuss survival tips and movie makeup artist Corbin Booth will demonstrate how to disguise yourself as a zombie to confuse your pursuers.

Owls And Raptors From The Macbride Raptor Project
Learn about the raptors living in our local forests and neighborhoods with Luke Hart from the Macbride Raptor Project. He will bring one or two of the non-releasable raptors from the center! This program is interactive and open for questions.

For two weeks in July we'll read two books, watch their movie adaptations, and discuss...with pizza!

Teen Tech Zone
Need some help with the newest Facebook update? Want to start up a Twitter account? Interested in photography, music, or blogging? Feel the need to correct that Wikipedia page? Want to play video games? Teen Tech Zone is a computer lab set aside for a few hours of gaming, chatting, and general technology tinkering. Stop by, ask a couple of questions, or just hang out.
When: 1-4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays: June 4-August 15.

Ride & Read
Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, June 5-August 9, 9-3 p.m.

Show your library card for a free ride to the downtown interchange and walk just three blocks to the Library. This service is limited to children through grade 12, and their adult caregivers who are with them. Ride home free anytime the same day with a Ride & Read bus pass, available at the Checkout Desk.
