How is voting restricted in our country in lawful ways? Political scientist Tracy Osborn, grassroots organizer Sharon Lake, and Andrew Bribriesco—president and legal advisor for the Iowa chapter of League of United Latin American Citizens—will discuss issues ranging from gerrymandering, Iowa's voter registration law, voter identification, and lack of voting rights for felons. 

Andrew Bribriesco, an alumni of the UI College of Law, he dedicates the majority of his practice as an attorney to representing injured workers. Andrew has been the LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) Council #308 (Iowa City) president since 2014, and became the legal advisor for LULAC-State of Iowa in 2015.

Tracy Osborn is an associate professor in the UI Department of Political Science and the director of the Politics and Policy Program at the Iowa Public Policy Center. Currently, her research examines women legislators’ partisanship and policy development in the U.S. state legislatures since 1960, public opinion toward women terrorists and terrorism policy, and antifeminist policy and women’s representation in the U.S. states.

Sharon Lake has worked for many years as a grassroots organizer on the east side of Iowa City, registering voters and helping voters understand how to take advantage of options such as early voting and same-day registration. Over the past year, she has given workshops on Iowa's Voter ID laws, voter registration, and canvassing voters.
