The Iowa City Public Library will host a free concert featuring the Dali Quartet from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, in Meeting Room A. Described as “today’s freshest voice in Classical and Latin-American music,” the group will perform Classical Roots, Latin Soul as part of their upcoming residency with the University of Iowa String Quartet Residency Program (UISQRP).

The Dali Quartet also will perform Classical Roots, Latin Soul in a free concert at the Alberta Metcalf Kelly Auditorium, 310 Maxson Ave. in West Liberty, from 7 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24.

The Philadelphia-based quartet, comprised of Alex Fortes (first violin); Carlos Rubio (second violin); Adriana Linares (viola); and Jesús Morales (cello), is known for captivating performances of traditional string quartet and Latin-American repertoire. Classical Roots, Latin Soul is designed for audiences of all ages and backgrounds, and will feature music ranging from tangos by Astor Piazzola to music by Franz Schubert and Paquito D’Rivera.

The Dali Quartet residency is a collaboration with the University of Iowa String Quartet Residency Program, the West Liberty Community School District and the Iowa City Public Library, and is being supported in part by University of Iowa’s Arts Share. During the residency, the Dali Quartet will also perform for the orchestras at Iowa City High School and Iowa City West High School.
