Iowa City Public Library, in collaboration with the Library’s Friends Foundation and Iowa City Parks & Recreation are bringing to Iowa City a brand new, permanent BookWalk installation in Willow Creek Park, located at 1117 Teg Drive. BookWalk is an interactive way for readers of all ages to enjoy storytime and the outdoors.

The new Bookmobile route and schedule for summer 2021 kicked off a summer of Bookmobile fun on Tuesday, June 1 and will continue through Friday, August 2021.

We are excited to announce our 125th Anniversary Summer Reading Program, which will include both in-person and virtual activities.  The Summer Reading Program will run from June 1 through September 1 - 2021 and is for all ages from babies through adults. Registration opens on Tuesday, June 1 and can be completed by returning your gamecard in-person at the Library, at our Bookmobile, or online at srp.icpl.org.

Local Libraries LIT (Listen, Initiate, Talk) will host Roxane Gay, award-winning author, professor, editor, and social commentator, during a unique hour-long online program featuring a reading and opportunity to interact. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom, on Thursday, April 29, and reservations are required. The program is free to the public and donations are welcomed, but not required.

The Iowa City Public Library (ICPL) will adjust the Phase 3 guidelines of its reopening plan beginning Friday, April 2, 2021. Until further notice, computer sessions will be limited to 30 minutes and browsing will be limited to 15 minutes. These adjustments were made after careful deliberation by the ICPL Leadership Team and the Library Board due to increasing COVID-19 positivity rates in Johnson County. The 14-day average has been over 5%, which meets the Library's established guidelines to adjust services.

Local Libraries LIT (Listen, Initiate, Talk), is a unique partnership between the public libraries in Coralville, Iowa City, and North Liberty, and the University of Iowa Libraries with support from The Tuesday Agency. Together, they will host award-winning author and poet Saeed Jones, a powerful voice in the world of literary activism, whose writing often takes on questions of identity.
