Local Libraries LIT (Listen, Initiate, Talk) will host Jennine Capó Crucet, author of the critically acclaimed "Make Your Home Among Strangers,'' which was a New York Times Book Review Editor’s Choice book and the winner of the 2016 International Latino Book Award. The program will begin at 7 p.m. via Zoom, on Wednesday, Jan. 26, and reservations are required at icpl.org/local-libraries-LIT by 5 p.m. on the day of the event.

The annual Inservice Day is an opportunity for all Library staff to attend training and discussions designed to improve services for patrons. Staff recognition is also part of the Library’s annual Inservice. Library employees will be recognized for every five years of service. This year, eight staff members will be honored for their service, ranging from five years to 20 years at the Library. Together they represent 105 cumulative years of library service.

The Iowa City Public Library's Friends Foundation will host its very popular Arts and Crafts Bazaar through the end of December. This year due to COVID-19 precautions, the event will be hosted online. The fundraiser is in its ninth year and is made possible by the generous donations of local artists and crafters. Cheryl Hetherington, who donated items for the Bazaar says, “I love the Library, and I love to do art. It seems like the perfect mixture to share those loves with you all.”
