March is Women's History Month, so this week we are recognizing one of the world's most famous scientists, Marie Curie, known for her discovery of radium and polonium, her work on radioactivity, and her contributions to cancer treatment.
Marie Curie is also notably associated with X-rays due to her significant contribution during World War I, where she developed mobile X-ray units, nicknamed "Little Curies," which allowed battlefield surgeons to accurately diagnose injuries like broken bones and shrapnel in wounded soldiers.
Our activity is a craft and STEM project! We'll create x-ray hands and use oil to make the bones in the hand translucent when placed on a sunny window! See-though x-ray vision!
Sunday Fun Days are suitable for all-ages, but younger children should make the crafts together with caregivers. One craft per child please.
