Storm Chasers – Becoming Part of the Plan
Meeting Room A
Contact: Fiction Desk, 319-356-5200 option 4
Details: The crew from Chasing4Life present this 90 minute program. We'll start with storm stories and a look at the obsession the American public has with disasters. We’ll discuss disaster movies over the last several decades and of course, we won’t leave out the movie “Twister”! With a new perspective on the obsession, this program then takes event attendees on a journey through the recent history of disasters in the United States right up to yesterday. We’ll discuss the goal of a more prepared American community as we unveil tables full of supplies a family may need in a disaster…but we said “may need.” Audience participation is required as the entire audience becomes a family of four and creates a home disaster kit from the items displayed, but beware! Not all the items on the table are correct so the contest begins to see who can think through the mitigation process. An all ages event filled with comedy, fast paced stories and hands-on learning.
