Are you looking for a new way to explore your creativity? Do you want to learn a new skill or develop a hobby you already have? ICPL can help! Beginning Thursday, December 17th a new online resource will appear on our website: Creativebug!
Creativebug is an online source of thousands of on-trend arts & crafts classes taught by award winning artists and experts in their fields. Designed for people of all skill levels there is an amazing array of subjects: Art & Design, Paper Arts, Knitting & Crocheting, Sewing & Quilting, Jewelry Making and more!
Creativebug will be available for residents of Iowa City, Univeristy Heights, Hills, Lone Tree, and rural Johnson County. You'll need to make your own Creativebug account the first time you log in, and this will include your ICPL library card number and pin/password plus your name and email address.
When you log in, the Creativebug home page will show you some of the new classes available and some classes that might interest you based on the information you put in your optional profile. Your first initial will appear in the upper right corner of the landing page, and this is where you can get information about the classes you've watched, things you've added to your watchlist, and info about your account.
At the top of the home page you'll see a search bar and some basic topics. As you mouse over the topics other topics will appear. The search bar also has a drop-down option to filter your search for things like specific instructors or classes.
Creativebug is very well designed and easy to use website. Once you click on a class title, you'll see more information about the class such as the instructior, appropriate skill level, and length. You have the option of breaking down the class into chapters, viwing the materials list, gallery, discussion section and most helpful a transcript of the video for those who like reading instructions. Explore Creativebug by going to icpl.org/creativebug
Once we can meet again in person, ICPL will be using some of the Creativebug classes to build arts programs. Before then we might try a few as Zoom events. Stay tuned for more information.
