Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Secrest 1883 Octagonal Barn is located rural Johnson County near the community of Downy. Richard Tyler, owner and steward of the barn will be at the Library to give a presentation about the history, restoration and preservation of this historic structure and its companion buildings.

In conjunction with this program, during the month of July a display of photographs and relics found during restoration will be on display on the second floor of the Iowa City Public Library. Part of the 2023 Adult Summer Reading Program.
