The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation partnered with the Space Science Institute’s National Center for Interactive Learning and StarNet to provide a limited number of solar eclipse glasses to the Iowa City Public Library as part of their mission is to provide low-cost resources to allow Americans to engage in science.

Two-hundred pairs of glasses will be distributed, one per person at the Help Desk on Saturday, August 19, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The quantity is limited to one pair per person and will be distributed on a “while supplies last” basis.

Solar eclipse glasses also will be distributed, one pair per person, during the August 20 Sunday Fun Day program from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Storytime Room and our Solar-bration of the Solar Eclipse from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 21, in Meeting Room A. People must attend the programs in order to receive a pair of glasses. The quantity will be limited at each program and distributed on a “while supplies last” basis.
