Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Iowa City Public Library announces these updates:
The downtown library building will remain closed to the public until further notice. There will be no in-person library programs, public meeting room use, or ICPL Bookmobile service until possibly mid-August.
Starting Monday, May 4, library staff will resume answering phone calls to 319-356-5200 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Due dates have been extended through July 15 for everything borrowed from the library. Please keep library items until the library reopens. If items must be returned, the book return at the Downtown Library is open.
There will be Summer Reading Programs for all ages offered online. Look for updates in late May about the new virtual summer reading program, classes, and events. Updates will be shared on the Library's webpage at icpl.org and through social media.
All decisions made by Iowa City Public Library leadership right now are intended to keep library users and staff as safe as possible during this pandemic.
