Press ReleaseICPL to Host One Community, One Book Discussion

The Iowa City Public Library will host a discussion about the 2017 One Community, One Book selection from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 23, in Meeting Room A.

This year’s selection is “The Butterfly Mosque: A Young American Woman’s Journey to Love and Islam” by G. Willow Wilson. Praised as “an eye-opening look at a misunderstood and often polarizing faith” by Booklist, “The Butterfly Mosque” is Wilson’s story of converting to Islam and falling in love with an Egyptian man in a volatile post-9/11 world.

One Community, One Book is a community-wide reading project of the University of Iowa Center for Human Rights. This book discussion is co-sponsored by the Library, the UNESCO City of Literature, the University of Iowa Center for Human Rights, and the Iowa City Human Rights Commission.

Wilson will be speaking at the 2017 Iowa City Book Festival in October, but she will not be at this discussion. For information about the Iowa City Book Festival, including a schedule of events, visit www.iowacitybookfestival.org.
