The Iowa City Public Library will honor the career of Elmore Leonard with a series of film screenings in February.
Leonard was an American novelist and screenwriter who wrote some of most memorable Westerns, crime novels, and suspense thrillers in literary history – some of which became movies. Come to the Library every Thursday in February to see his works on the big screen. Films will be shown in Room A of the Library.
All films are free and open to the public. Free popcorn will be provided.
February 6: Jackie Brown
A flight attendant, played by Pam Grier, becomes a key figure in a plot between the police and an arms dealer. Also stars Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Keaton. Directed by Quentin Tarantino; 154 minutes. (1997)

February 13: Out of Sight
George Clooney plays Jack Foley, a fugitive on the run. Jennifer Lopez plays the U.S. Marshal Foley kidnaps during his escape. Directed by Steven Soderbergh; 123 minutes. (1998)

February 20: 3:10 to Yuma
After outlaw leader Ben Wade, played by Glenn Ford, is captured in a small town, small-time rancher Dan Evans, played by Van Heflin, is hired to escort Wade to his trial. Directed by Delmer Daves; black-and-white film; 92 minutes. (1957)

February 27: Hombre
Paul Newman plays John Russell, a white man raised by the Apaches on an Indian reservation. An inheritance finds him on a stagecoach with six other passengers, none who care for Russell until bandits attack and they need his knowledge to survive. Directed by Martin Ritt; 111 minutes. (1967)
