Library's annual Anime and Manga Festival for Teens

This Saturday is the Iowa City Public Library's annual Anime and Manga Festival for Teens. The Anime and Manga Festival has grown into the Library's most popular events for teens. Join us from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 in Room A. This year we’ll be showing:

Anime13x19
Trigun:
Known for its Space Western theme, Trigun is about a man named "Vash the Stampede" and the two Bernardelli Insurance Society employees who follow him around in order to minimize the damages inevitably caused by his appearance. Most of the damage attributed to Vash is actually caused by bounty hunters in pursuit of the "60,000,000,000$$" (sixty billion "double dollars") bounty on Vash's head for the destruction of the city of July. However, he cannot remember the incident clearly due to his amnesia. Throughout his travels, Vash tries to save lives using non-lethal force. He is occasionally joined by a priest, Nicholas D. Wolfwood, who, like Vash, is a superb gunfighter with a mysterious past.

fairy-tail-vol-1 Fairy Tail:
A 17-year-old celestial wizard named Lucy Heartfilia runs away from home to join Fairy Tail, a rambunctious wizards' guild whose members are infamous for their overly destructive antics. Along the way, she meets Natsu Dragneel, a boy who is traveling the land of Fiore together with his partner Happy, a talking cat, in search of his foster parent, a dragon named Igneel who had disappeared without a trace seven years prior. Shortly after their meeting, Lucy is abducted by a wizard claiming to be the famous Salamander of Fairy Tail. Natsu rescues Lucy and reveals himself to be the real Salamander and a Dragon Slayer, a wizard with the abilities of a dragon. Natsu offers membership to Fairy Tail for Lucy, which she accepts.

shatteredangels Shattered Angels
Shattered Angels revolves around the life of Kū Shiratori, a seemingly normal high school girl, who enjoys school life in the giant city Academia. Academia is thought of as a symbol of recovery for humanity since already ten years have passed since the greatest disaster mankind had ever seen occurred. Kū has recently been having a recurring dream where a prince meets her and takes her away. One day, while all the students at her school are preparing for the upcoming school festival, the prince whom she has met several times in her dreams appears.

There will be lots of food, including candy sushi (of course). This year we’re super happy to have the help of some of the stylists from local G-Spot Hair Design who will be here to help teens craft Anime Hair! So come in cosplay dress.
