The Iowa City Public Library officially launched its new catalog on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021. The new catalog offers several enhancements to provide a tailored search experience to Library patrons. Library staff used patron feedback to build the catalog and created one of the few in-house catalogs in the nation. This is the community’s catalog, built specifically for Iowa City by dedicated ICPL staff.

The Iowa City Public Library’s Bookmobile will not be in service from October 12 to October 15, 2021, due to vehicle maintenance.If you have holds to pick up on the Bookmobile, those items will be available at the Downtown Library from October 12 to October 15 and available on the Bookmobile from October 18 to October 22.If you are unsure about when or where to find an item you placed on hold, call the Library at 319-356-5200. The Bookmobile's schedule is available at icpl.org/services/bookmobile.

The Iowa City Public Library is collaborating with Launch Student News (LSN) to offer a six-session journalism workshop for students in 6th-12th grade, starting Monday Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. LSN is a volunteer organization dedicated to promoting journalism. The workshop will be led by Victoria Feng and Malini Pillai. Feng is director and founder of LSN and a high school student with work recently published in the New York Times.

The City of Iowa City will require all visitors to City facilities to wear a mask while inside public buildings beginning Friday, Aug. 6, 2021. As a public facility, the Iowa City Public Library will follow the latest guidance from the Johnson County Public Health Department, and will require masks for all visitors two years and older to the main building and the Bookmobile. The requirement will be applied regardless of vaccination status.

We’re looking for candidates who are involved and interested in the arts community in some way — artists, framers, instructors, students, gallery employees, collectors and serious enthusiasts — to join the Committee. The Committee is made up of six members, and terms run for three years (this term would end in April 2024). Candidates must reside in Iowa City or rural Johnson County and are appointed to the Committee by the Library Board. Library employees are not eligible for appointment.
