Hello, Iowa City book lovers and eco-champions!

With the Iowa City Public Library card, kids have a ticket to ride an Iowa City Transit bus for free, all summer long.  The Library offers free bus rides to children up to 12th grade and their accompanying adult caregivers on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., from Tuesday, June 6 to Thursday, August 24, 2023. Bus riders should show their Iowa City Public Library card to the bus driver to gain free access to the bus.

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, the Iowa City Public Library (ICPL) Bookmobile will be closed. The Downtown Library will be open for special hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Patrons can visit icpl.org/hours to find Library hours and the ICPL Bookmobile schedule. 

With the deluge of great new titles published over the last year, some potential new favorites may have escaped your notice. So Iowa City Public Library Staff members voted on the best books that came out in 2022 and whittled down to a collection of can’t-miss books for the year across nine categories.
