Although CHOMP traditionally delivers food, the company will deliver Iowa City Public Library holds to your door beginning Tuesday, May 1. A CHOMP account is required for this service and delivery fees apply.

Every year, the American Library Association holds a Choose Privacy Week in the first week of May. Given the recent headlines regarding Facebook and data breaches, many users might not feel that their online data is safe, so the Iowa City Public Library is hosting two programs on internet privacy. Join us at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, for Internet Safety: Protecting your Privacy. We will talk about digital footprints, what your web browser knows about you, and how to browse the internet safely.

From quick news updates to deep dives into a topic, The New York Times keeps you up-to-date on what you need to know. This access is available through the Digital Johnson County collections ICPL share with the Coralville Public Library and the North Liberty Community Library.

The Iowa City Public Library’s Art Advisory Committee is looking for new members. The Committee is made up of six members and terms run for three years. Candidates must reside in Iowa City or rural Johnson County, and are appointed to the Committee by the Library Board. Library employees are not eligible for appointment. Ideal candidates are individuals involved and interested in the arts community in some way — artists, framers, instructors, students, gallery employees, collectors and serious enthusiasts.

Saturday morning cartoons are so much fun, we thought we’ve decided to start them on Friday afternoon! April 20 is a no school day, so the Iowa City Public Library will help teens kick off the long weekend with a Cartoons and Cereal Celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Teen Center. Fans of “Steven Universe,” “Teen Titans Go,” “Rick & Morty” and more are invited to come get lazy in the Library with cartoon treats and a smorgasbord of sugary eats. Pajamas and pillows are encouraged!

The board of the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation invites the public to attend Looking Forward, the annual fundraiser for the Library. This year’s event will be held on Sunday, April 22, at the Library. It is designed to expand horizons, achieve support through reservations and attendance, and continue to build long-standing camaraderie among the Library’s devotees.

Come to the Iowa City Public Library for classes on how to hone your skills on popular social media sites.   Facebook Tips and Tricks will show participants how to get control of their timeline and home feed, and find new ways to connect by creating an event or group. Class will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 6, and at 5 p.m. on Monday, April 22.
