Sunday, June 29, 2025 - 12:30pm to 3:30pm
For this 4-part series of workshops, we will explore tabletop game design! These are no-experience-required workshops that introduce attendees to making games with cards, dice, tokens, boards, or in the mind with plenty of rules!
Part 3: Game boards, Map-Making, and Digital Art
Third in this series is a design session where we’ll explore larger projects in Canva or Adobe Suite for game boards.
We’ll look at the history of using game boards for games and we’ll talk about some popular boardgames and features of their designs, from sizes to sideboards!
We’ll explore the design elements of a game board with concepts like movement, tokens, resources, traps, grids, and tiles.
Starting with Canva or Adobe Photoshop, we’ll design grids, patterns, and maps with digital art techniques to design mini game board mockups for playtesting that we might print and cut with the Cricut.
Participants will leave with custom mini game board mockup!
Please register for each workshop separately. Other workshops in the series
Instructor: Victor, Digital Media Lab intern
We recommend that participants remember their email logins or bring in flash drives to store files over the course of the series.
