Don't miss the return of the Annual ICPL Arts & Crafts Bazaar on Saturday, December 2nd. There will be a wide selection of unique, one-of-a-kind gifts, from quilts and hand knitted items to jewelry, holiday ornaments and more, all donated by local artists and crafters. All proceeds from this year's sale will benefit the ICPL Friends Foundation to support the collections and services of the Iowa City Public Library.

Also, be sure to check out The Book End's winter book sale, happening from 10:00am-3:00pm in the hallway outside of Meeting Room A.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of things should I donate?

New, handmade arts and crafts which appeal to a wide audience.  Ideas include:

  • Children's items such as soft/wooden toys, blankets, bibs, hats, puppets, etc.
  • Home goods such as quilts, wall hangings, pillows, napkins, small framed art, miniatures, potholders, plates/bowls, etc.
  • Personal accessories such as scarves, jewelry, hats, shawls, bags, etc.
  • Holiday items such as ornaments, stockings, garland, etc.

What kinds of things shouldn't I donate?

Food, plants/living items, very large items, very fragile items, items that are not handmade, items that are not new

The ICPL reserves the right to reject any donations which are not considered suitable for the sale.

How do I donate?

Drop your items off at the Library at any time we are open through December 1st. 

How many items can I donate?

In general, however many items you're comfortable with donating. However, we ask that you check with us regarding any donations that are large in size or quantity to ensure we have space to store your donation. You can reach us at development@icpl.org or 319-356-5249.

Do I have to price my item(s)?
If you would like, you may suggest a price range on the donation form. A final price will be set by bazaar volunteers.

What if my donation doesn't sell?

Items donated to the Arts & Crafts Bazaar will not be returned if they do not sell. Those items may be shared with other community organizations to benefit their programming.

Where does the money raised by the Arts & Crafts Bazaar go?

Proceeds from the 2023 Arts & Crafts Bazaar will benefit the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation which supports the Library's programs, services, and collections. Thank you for your generous support!
