About Me

Katie Roche works at the Library as the Development Director of the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation, which works to inspire every member of our community to support the Iowa City Public Library as a Library user, volunteer, or donor. Katie reads widely and her recommendations often come from reading in anticipation of local and virtual events featuring writers reading from their books and in conversation about their writing. Katie also loves to read books that have ties to Iowa City's writing community. If you were to look at Katie's bookshelves you would see many treasured graphic novels, collections of poetry, afro-futurist novels, non-fiction, books showcasing artists and cultural artifacts, and world philosophy books. If pressed to share her favorite genre, Katie would probably choose speculative/dystopian fiction that shows people solving some of the real and complicated issues that our world faces today.
