October Tech Classes

We've been waiting to return to in-person programming to do classes on our Adobe software and the equipment in the Digital Media Lab -- so we've packed a lot into October!

 

Premiere Pro for Beginners

Monday, October 4, 7-8pm in person

Get started with Adobe Premiere Pro, the professional-level video editing software that's available to you in the library's Digital Media Lab. If you're looking to take your video editing to the next level, join ICPL's AV Specialist to learn about setting up a project in Premiere, sequencing clips to tell a story, using audio, adding graphics and After Effects, and finalizing a project.

Thursday, October 7, 2-3pm in person

Have a stash of photos or other memory-filled documents taking up space in a closet or basement? Why not scan them so you can make sure they last forever?  This class will teach you how to scan documents, photos, film, and slides using the equipment available to you in the Digital Media Lab. We will cover a range of topics related to scanning, including where to store your digital items and how to adjust their quality.

Thursday, October 14, 7-8pm in person

You've heard of Photoshop. Ready to try it?  Join library staff for an introductory hour on the industry standard in photo editing and digital art! You'll get comfortable with Photoshop's interface, learn how to open or create a new document, and begin making basic edits.

Thursday, October 21, 6-7pm in person

Libby is the easiest way to get free ebooks and e-audiobooks from the library, and now it has digital magazines, too!  This in-person class will cover downloading the free app, logging in for the first time, browsing for magazines or the thousands of ebooks available, and managing your checkouts. Bring your questions and your device!

Registration isn’t necessary – just show up!

Tired of looking at your photos on a screen? Want to put together a meaningful gift for someone?  Let's talk about photo books. There are several companies out there that allow you to upload your photos to their website, arrange them within templates, and add captions. Hardcover or softcover books are manufactured and mailed to you for anywhere from $10-50.  We'll discuss the best photo book companies and demonstrate their usability, design options, and pricing. Get your hands on a few sample books to compare the quality of the printing and binding, too.
