New phone system aimed at helping public debuts Monday

Starting Monday, September 10, the Iowa City Public Library will be making changes to telephone service during normal Library hours. When you call the Library at 319-356-5200, a staff member who can answer most questions will be the first person you speak to. A caller will no longer be provided a long menu of option choices. This is the first in a series of changes this fall designed to make the Library easier to use and more accessible to the public. Beginning on Sunday the Fiction Desk on the Library’s first floor will be closed, and people who need assistance will use the new Help Desk. The new and improved Help Desk on the first floor is part of a renovation project that will be completed in November.
